In my last blog post, I discussed some of the benefits that can be derived from regular exercise. Now let’s say that you are ready to start deriving those benefits but don’t know how to get started, or how to stay motivated. This blog post will provide you with a few tips that I have used myself to stay motivated and on track.
Create a workout schedule
When it comes to regular exercise, creating a workout schedule can be very useful. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy, just a rough plan of what physical activity you want to engage in during the week. So say for example, on Mondays you like to go biking, or you like to work out your arms. Take some time and write out all of this out. This will help you stay focused, as you now have a guide to follow. Another useful tip is to set reminders on your phone, that way you get a notification when it is time to work out.
Meal prepping
For most students, the idea of having to cook a meal at home every single day can be daunting. Considering all the food places around campus, it can becomes easy to eat out every day. A tip that has worked for me is to prep all my meals. On Sundays, I like to cook enough meals that will take me through the week. This doesn’t have to be anything completed, just simple meals that you enjoy, but still help you stay on track.
Find a workout buddy
The final tip is to find a workout buddy. This is something that can really help you stay motivated. Find someone who has a similar commitment level as you, and who can hold you accountable. Chances are you will stick to your workout schedule if you know that you are accountable to someone. Having a workout buddy will also push you to work harder and challenge yourself.
So if you are struggling with finding your motivation, or just need some tips on how to started, I hope you find this blog post helpful.
