With final exams getting closer and closer with each passing day, if you are like most students, then you are probably experiencing some level of stress. But fear not! This blog post will provide you with some information on the different resources most schools make available to students around final exams.
Requesting for a change of exam date
In most schools, when the final exam schedule is released, students are given the opportunity to file a request to have an exam date changed if you have multiple exams back to back. Thinking back to my first semester in university, I had a final exam on each day of the week for three days, and two exams back to back on the same day! Due to this, I had to inevitably pull a couple of all nighters just to ensure that I was well prepared for each exam. However, it wasn’t until I was in second year that I found out that I could have filed a request to have some of my exams rescheduled. So if you find yourself in a situation like this, check to see if your school has a provision in place that allows students to file requests to have exam dates changed, when there is a need for it. Believe me, this will help reduce the level of stress you experience when preparing for your final exams!
Reviewing past midterms or tests
Most professors give students the opportunity to review their past midterm or test answers. This is especially useful when your final exam is cumulative. Being able to review your previous midterms gives you a chance to determine which questions you got wrong or which areas on the exam you struggled with. That way, you can devote more time to studying those areas when you are preparing for your final exam. If your professors do give you the chance to review your past test answers, be sure to take advantage of it as it can serve as a useful guide when it comes time to study for your final exams.
Stress relieving events
During final exam season, most schools organize a range of events that focus on helping students minimize their stress levels. For example, some schools set up board game areas for students, and even bring in therapy dogs for students! Make sure to participate in these events if your school organizes them, as it is a great way to relieve some stress.
